Three centuries later a flamboyant gothic style collateral aisle was added to the Romanesque nave. King Louis who wanted to reinforce the attachment of Anjou to the crown of France and particularly worshipped the Virgin, had it built. This working site needed the drilling between the big pillars of the southern wall of the large nave and the construction of five big gothic or arched vaults.
You will notice the importance of the richly worked bays which bring a beautiful light to the whole of the building. A flamboyant gothic oratory also opens at the level of the first span.
The five polychrome keystones attract attention ; they bear the arms of the King, the Queen, the Dauphin, another one represents Saint Mickael’s archangel.
